System requirements
LinguaLeaf 1.7.1 requires Android 8.0 or later. Features such as purchases, model downloads, Project Gutenberg search, and discount-code validation require an Internet connection.
Importing an EPUB
Use LinguaLeaf's import option to select a compatible reflowable EPUB file from your device. You are responsible for ensuring that you have the right to use imported books.
Project Gutenberg books
LinguaLeaf can search and import available public-domain titles from Project Gutenberg. Availability, formatting, metadata, and regional copyright status are controlled by external sources and applicable law.
Translation and language models
Some translation models must be downloaded before they can be used offline. Keep the app open and connected while a model is installing. A model can be removed later from the language-management screen.
Text-to-speech
LinguaLeaf uses Android's text-to-speech system. Available voices, pronunciation quality, language support, and download requirements depend on your device and installed TTS provider.
If playback is silent or the wrong voice is used:
- Confirm that media volume is turned up.
- Check the selected LinguaLeaf TTS voice and speed.
- Install the required voice in Android's text-to-speech settings.
- Allow notifications if you want background playback controls.
- Restart playback after changing the system TTS engine.
Language-pack purchases
Purchases are processed by Google Play. LinguaLeaf language packs are intended as one-time, non-consumable purchases associated with the Google account used for the transaction.
To restore an eligible purchase, confirm that the device is signed into the purchasing Google account, open LinguaLeaf, and refresh purchases or prices from the language/settings area.
Discount codes
A valid LinguaLeaf discount code may select a promotional Google Play offer. The final price and availability are always shown by Google Play before purchase. An offer may be unavailable for a particular account, region, app installation, product, or campaign period.
No LinguaLeaf account
LinguaLeaf does not create a Leafwise Studio user account. There is no LinguaLeaf account password or cloud library to recover or delete.
Reporting a problem
Send the following to [email protected]:
- LinguaLeaf version
- device manufacturer and model
- Android version
- language pack involved
- whether the book was imported or obtained through Project Gutenberg
- the exact error message
- the steps that caused the problem
Do not email copyrighted book files unless Leafwise Studio specifically requests a test file and you have permission to share it.
